Ruaha Hilltop Lodge is situated just outside the boundary of Ruaha National Park. It stands on the slopes of the Ideremle Mountain, providing breathtaking panoramic views.

Accommodation is provided by a number of self contained stone cottages, each with its own balcony.

The reception area, dining room and bar are all under one roof, with a spectacular viewing platform. A well-stocked bar and reputedly some of the best food in Tanzania completes the picture.

Basic activities include half or full day game drives into the Ruaha National Park, walking safaris, again within the Park, bird watching and visits to the local Maasai culture.

Water heated by solar power.

Other:

In addition to the usual safari activities, the Lodge offers trips to the nearby Ismila Stone Age site, the Mufindi tea plantations, and Lake Nyasa, together with mountain hiking to the Ideremle volcanic caves.

Local culture is very much focused upon, and it is even possible to visit the local Hehe tribal villages by bicycle! It is also possible to visit the nearby town of Iringa (an old German colonial settlement).

Somewhat outside the usual run of options, but rewardingly so, and very suitable as a place to unwind for a few nights after a hectic safari itinerary.
